The dance given here by the Boyd Band on Saturday evening last was a lively affair and all attending report a good time. A large crowd was present from Boyd and Stanley.

W. Hines froze the tips of his fingers several days ago and on Monday Dr. McKittrick found it necessary to amputate the end of the third finger of the right hand.

A team belonging to L. H. McGuire were engaged in hauling a load of logs to the mill yard on Monday and when in front of the postoffice one of the horses dropped dead in its tracks. The animal was valued at about $100.

County Judge R. B. Salter spent the greater part of last Friday in this village, in the interest of J. E. Pettet, who had been sued by a man Eggleston of Unity for collecting more than legal fees in a former suit, while acting in the capacity of deputy sheriff. The case was tried before justice Burke, G. I. Follet of Spencer appearing as counsel for the plaintiff. The matter was decided in favor of the defendant.

And now complaint is made that U.S. district attorney Cohman of Fond du Lac is making exhorbitant and illegal charges for attendance upon the U.S. district court at Milwaukee. Why doesn't Milwaukee take a tip from our Neillsville kickers and make the district attorney remove to Milwaukee or else let his assistant there do the business and save this mileage and per diem?

District attorney Parkhill has appointed J. O. Carbys of Neillsville to look after any and all matters requiring the prosecuting attorney's attention at Neillsville: but Mr. Parkhill will attend all sessions of the county board and circuit court in person and see that the duties of the office are well looked after.
