Ritzel, Joseph J. (19 March 1855 - 6 July 1935)

Joseph J. Ritzel passed away at his home Saturday morning July 6th, 1935 after a few months illness.

Mr. Ritzel was born at Pottsville, Pa., March 19, 1855. When a young man of 20 years he moved with his parents to Arcadia, Wis.

In the fall of 1882 he came to the city of Neillsville, Wis., which has since been his home.

He was married to Margaret Meyer April 28, 1884.

At the age of 14 years he helped his father at the stone mason trade, at which he worked for forty-six years. Later he was employed at the condensary for nine years, and he was also employed by the city for a number of years.

Deceased is survived by his wife and five children namely Elizabeth, Mrs. Math c. Scherer, Neillsville; Joseph A. of Philadelphia, Pa.; Sadie and Frank at the home and Gertrude, Mrs. Carl Thoma, Neillsville, also one sister, Mrs. Fred Kircherer of Glidden, Wis.

He was kind and loving husband and father and well liked by all who knew him. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. Peter F. Weber, officiating.

The pallbearers were Joe Prock, Paul Skroch, Henry Wasserberger, Lenus Prock, Jas. Donahue, and Joe Schwiengerath.
