Pickett, Frank (25 July 1857 - 1935)

Frank Pickett for many years one of the leading men of the town of Unity, passed away at his home there on Sunday, aged nearly 78 years.

Mr. Pickett was born in Hartford, Washington County, Wis., June 25, 1857. When he was 14 years of age he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pickett, to Clark County. He grew to manhood here and early took up the work of a pioneer, logging and farming.

In 1877 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah M. Shanks. The years after their marriage they settled on their land in the town of Unity, which they developed into a fine farm, adding more land by purchase until the place contained 360 acres, one of the finest farms in the county. Mr. Pickett was not only a good farmer, but also became a leading citizen in his township and in the county, serving for a long time on the county board. He was a man well worth knowing, having clear views on public affairs, an was generally intelligent along many lines. He was independent in his views, but had ability to convince others as to the justice of his decisions.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.

The funeral was held at the home Tuesday under the direction of the Masonic Lodge.

Among those who attended the funeral from here were Judge E. W. Crosby, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Fradette, Mr. and Mrs. Oluf Olson and Otto Weyhmiller.
