Eisentrant, Charles (2 Jan. 1849 - 1 June 1935)

Charles Eisentrant was born in Saxony, Germany, Jan. 2nd, in the year of 1849. After the age of two years he came with his parents to Wisconsin, where they settled in Washington County on a farm. He lived there until the year of 1876, when at the age of twenty-seven; he was united in marriage to Matilda Hanchman. They took their belongings and traveled to Clark County, where they worked diligently to clear the farm, which is now occupied by their son Alvin. In 1912 they moved to Neillsville, where they lived happily together until her death on April 11, 1932. After her death he made his home with his son Alvin on his old home farm, where he lived until he died on Saturday morning at 7:45, June 1.

To this union six children were born, Agnes, Mrs. Philip Haag; of Sheboygan County; Alvin, Ida, Mrs. Alfred Drescher; Elsie, Mrs. Walter Gerhardt, all of the town of Grant, and two children who died in infancy.

He also leaves to mourn his death, one brother, Morris of Adell, Wis., and one sister, Mary living at Wisconsin Rapids, thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Charles Eisentrant lived honestly, uprightly and sincerely during all of the many years of his successful life and in doing so made a host of friends who also mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held at the Schiller Funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, June 4th, at 2 o’clock, the Rev. P. B. White, officiating, and burial took place at the Neillsville cemetery.

Six of the grandsons acted as pallbearers: Carl Eisentrant; Irving Gerhardt, Robt. Gerhardt; Carl Drescher; Philip Haag and Arlie Syth.
