Bushnell, Priscilla Jean (Marriage - 18 Aug. 1962)

Making their home at 606 A. S. Cherry Ave. here following a honeymoon tour through the southern part of the state are Marlyn Ernest Laabs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Laabs, and his bride, the former Priscilla Jean Bushnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Bushnell, all of route 1, Owen, Wis.

The young people selected Saturday, Aug. 18, as their wedding day, the day also being the 30th wedding anniversary of the bride’s parents.

The Rev. Paul Doehring, Loyal, officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony held in the Congregational Church at Owen, Wis. Mr. Bushnell gave his daughter in marriage during the nuptial rites for which Miss Janie Westendorf was the organist and Miss Diane Burhop sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "O Promise Me."

White and red gladioli decorated the altar and yellow and orchid bows marked the pews.

The bride wore a floor-length gown of hand-clipped Chantilly lace, the fitted bodice featuring a jeweled Sabrina neckline and the bouffant skirt being highlighted with three scalloped tiers. Her imported silk illusion fingertip veil was held by a headpiece sparkling with aurora borealis crystals. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, stephanotis and red tea roses.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry DuBrava, Loyal, were the best man and matron of honor, respectively, Misses Jeannette and Joanne Laabs, both of Owen, were the bridesmaids; Marvin Raatz and Brain Bushnell, also of Owen, were groomsmen; and Dale Amacher an Duane Bushnell, both of Owen, were the ushers.

The matron of honor wore a daffodil yellow organza frock with appliqués of white velveray flowers. The dress featured a scoop neckline, empire bodice and controlled skirt accented at the back waistline with a bow. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and yellow chrysanthemums with yellow streamers.

Each bridesmaid wore an identically-styled dress in orchid. They carried colonial bouquets of white and orchid chrysanthemums with orchid streamers, and had all-white accessories.

Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents. Supper was served at 4 p.m. at the Congregational Church and that evening there was a dance at the Colby Park.

The bride is a 1962 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, where her husband was graduated two years earlier. Mr. Laabs is an employee of the Rollohome Corporations here.
