Smart, Calista (14 FEB 1833 - 6 FEB 1901)

Died, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Zarnke, in Marathon City, Wis., on Wednesday, Feb. 6th, 1901, of bronchitis, within 8 days of her 68th year.

Mrs. Smart was born in Oswego Co., N.Y., Feb. 14th, 1833; in 1847 she removed with her parents to Plymouth, Wis., where she was united in marriage, in 1854, with Carter A. Grant, who died at Arlington Heights in 1863; in 1870 she was united in marriage with Charles Smart; in 1879 she moved with her family to Colby, Wis. and located in the town of Hull, where she resided until Dec. 1900, and where Mr. Smart died several years ago.

Mrs. Smart was a kindly woman, well liked by all her acquaintances. She leaves to mourn her death, two sons, J.B. Grant of Merrill, and Alfred Smart of the town of Hull, and two daughters, Mrs. John Smart of the town of Hull and Mrs. Chas. Zarnke of Marathon City.

The funeral was held from the M.E. Church in this city, Saturday afternoon and the remains interred in Colby Cemetery, Rev. E.G. Vischer officiating.
