Schuette, Mrs. Hugo (18 Feb. 1895 - 1950)

MRS. HUGO SCHUETTE DIES FOLLOWING AUTO ACCIDENT

Mrs. Hugo Schuette, 56, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 30, following an auto accident.

Mr. and Mrs. Schuette were returning to their farm home in the township of Beaver with their son Merlin, in whose car they were riding. About six miles north of Loyal on county trunk K, the Schuette car apparently went out of control, and crossed over to the left side of the highway.

Approaching from the opposite direction was a car driven by Mrs. Eugene Gloudeman who was returning to her farm home in the town of Beaver.

Tire marks showed that Mrs. Gloudeman’s car was to the extreme west side of the highway when the two cars hit nearly head-on. The accident took place at shortly after 5:00 p.m.

The local doctor was summoned as well as the ambulance from here. The occupants of both cars were rushed to St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield with the ambulance and a private car, where Mrs. Schuette passed away shortly afterward. Her injuries consisted of head injuries and fractures of both legs.

Mr. Schuette is suffering from head injuries, a fractured left hip, chest injuries, and facial lacerations, and their son has a skull fracture, a broken jaw, and lacerations and contusions.

Mrs. Gloudeman also has a broken jaw and a number of lacerations.

It is reported that the conditions of the three injured persons is satisfactory.

Both automobiles were demolished by the collision.

Private funeral services for Mrs. Schuette will be held for the family at the Myre Funeral Home here at 10:00 a.m. Friday, after which the body will be taken to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Green Grove, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock in the afternoon. Rev. Paul Dietz will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery. Friends may view the body at the Myre Funeral Home here until the time of services.
