Strathman, Robert W. (28 May 1901 - 18 May 1998)

Robert W. Strathman, 96, Colby, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Marshfield. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 21, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. Rev. Mark Neumann officiated. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery, town of Colby. Pallbearers were John Devine, Jay Devine, Ken Smith, Brian Pawlak, Bob Vesley, and Adam Vesley.

Robert W. Strathman was born on May 28, 1901, in Colby, to William and Evelyn Strathman. He attended Colby schools. He married Gwen Bertz on Sept. 21, 1931. She died March 19, 1996. He worked at and later owned and operated Zillmer’s Store in Colby for 50 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Strathman, Houston, Texas; and Roberta (Bob) Devine, Withee; and one son, Robert (Gerri) Strathman, Ontario, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother.

Colby - Robert W. Strathman, 96, Colby, died May 18, 1998, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Visitations will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home and again grom 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

He was born May 28, 1901, in Colby. Robert worked at and later owned and operated Zillmer’s Store in Colby for 50 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Strathman of Houston, Texas; and Roberta (Bob) Devine of Withee; and his son, Robert (Gerri) Strathman of Ontario, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
