Russell, Zene C. (16 Mar 1885 - 9 OCT 1919)

Zene Claud Russell was born March 16, 1885, at Humbird, Clark County, Wis., and died Oct. 9, 1919, at Chippewa Falls, Wis., of sugar diabetes, at the age of 34 years, 6 months and 22 days. His boyhood was spent at Houghtonburg and Humbird, where he attended school. On Oct. 14, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Maude Campbell of Humbird. To this union were born six children, for of whom are now living, Helene, Hillard, Kenneth and Hallan.

The family resided at Humbird until the fall of 1916, when they moved to Auburndale, where he entered the employ of the R. Connor co., which company he was connected until the fourteenth of August of this year. At that time he took up the position of traveling salesman for a machine company, and removed his family to Chippewa Falls, where his death occurred.

The remains were brought to this village, where funeral services were held at the home of his mother on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. D. Upson of Merrillan, and the burial was in the family lot in the Houghtonburg Cemetery. Many beautiful flowers covered the casket.

He leaves to mourn his death, a wife and four children; his mother, three brothers, Hugh, Mark and Ray, all of Humbird; and one sister, Mrs. George Fields of Millston; and a large number of relatives and a host of friends. His father preceded him in death on May 9, 1918.

Relatives from away present at the funeral were George Fields and family of Millston; Mrs. D. E. Cash, F. M. Smith, Harvard, Ill.; Miss Winifred Russell, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Campbell, Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. George Campbell, Marshfield.
