Andrus, Alice (10 SEP 1851 - 4 Augl 1913)

Alice Wenn was born in the state of New York, Sept. 10, 1851. Her parents moved to Osborn Hollow, where she lived until the age of sixteen, when she became acquainted with and was married to Mr. Thomas J. Andrus of Kirkland, Sept. 28, 1867. Ten children were born to this union, of which Willie, the oldest, died at the age of five years, and the youngest, who died in infancy. The remaining eight are: Mrs. Lillian Crandell, Bellingham, Wash.; Harvey, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Mina Doyle, Stevens Point; Mrs. Artie Hartman, Bellingham, Wash.; Sherman, Thomas J. Jr., and Mrs. Florence Iehl, of Montana; Mrs. Alice Galster of South Dakota. They came to this vicinity (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) in Nov. 1873, and have lived here ever since. She departed this life Aug. 4, 1913. Mrs. Andrus was a dutiful wife and mother, and a kind neighbor and friend, whose demise is mourned by all who knew her.

The funeral service was held at her late home at one o'clock Sunday afternoon and at the M. E. Church, of which she was a member, at two o'clock. Rev. George B. Haskell of Mondovi, officiated. The interment was in the Houghtonburg Cemetery. The floral tribute to the memory of the departed were both numerous and beautiful. A large congregation was present at the church and followed the remains to their final resting place.

Relatives from away who were her to attend the funeral were Harvey Andrus of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Sanford Crandell, Mrs. Jos. Hartman, Bellingham, Wash.; Mrs. Galster, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Doyle, Stevens Point; Dr. and Mrs. Andrus, Ashland; Alva Andrus and son, Osseo.
