King, George W. (2 AUG 1846)

George W. King was born in Jo Davis Co., Ill. in the town of Weston, Aug. 2, 1846; he came to Grant Co., Wis. in 1847, and to Clark County in 1856. He served during the last year of the war with Co. I. 14th Wis., and was married to Mary Wicker May 3, 1878. His former occupation was that of river man, but in later years has been engaged in farming. He thinks that Humbird, Clark County, Wis. will now have better times than any time since the extensive logging ceased; he considers the present thriftiness due to the competition in the mercantile business. What we need is a canning factory and salting station.
