Warncke, Fred J. (15 Jan 1887 - 20 Jan 1947)

Tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock p.m., friends and relatives will pay their final respect and tribute to Fred Joseph Warncke, a resident of this community (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) and stalwart citizen for 60 years, when final rites are conducted from the Griebenow Funeral Home. Dr. K. O. Crosby will officiate at the ceremony and burial will be made in the Riverside Cemetery.

His passing away came as a shock to his many friends even though they knew he was a patient at the Medford Hospital, where he died late Monday night, Jan. 20, 1947.

Pallbearers will be Ted Braun, Harry Liebziet, Pete Madsen, Richard Anderson, C. N. McMillan and Lars Rasmussen.

Fred Joseph Warncke was born on Jan. 15, 1887 in the Braun Settlement northwest of Greenwood. On March 21, 1913 he and Amelia Koplitz were united in marriage at a ceremony performed at Duluth, Minn. Eleven years later, in 1924, she passed away, leaving her husband and family of four daughters, with which they had been blessed.

For the past 23 years Mr. Warncke had been a devoted father to his daughters, and as a result enjoyed their greatest love and companionship affording him a pleasant life, even though he had been afflicted with illness for twenty years. Every attempt was made to relieve his suffering, periods of hospitalization were frequent and relief only temporary, but even so he was a wonderful patient and a silent sufferer. His past was an eventful one, as he enjoyed participating in the occupation of farming, and prior to that during the lumbering days in this vicinity, gained renown as a chef in the lumbering camps, and at one time operated a restaurant business in the city. During the past four years he had efficiently served the Meadowview Country Club as their club house manager.

Surviving him are his daughters, Mrs. George (Kathryn) Cross, Appleton; Mrs. Fred (Majorie) Czeshinski, Medford; Mrs. Harvey (Marguerite) Prill, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Carl (Eleanore) Riber, Owen, and seven grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Taylor, Random Lake, Wis. and Mrs. Otto Sickmann, Sheboygan, and a brother, Louis of Curtiss.
