Marshfield News-Herald: Mrs. Horace Lawrence, 71, died of a heart ailment early this morning at her home, 1103 East Blodgett Street. She had been ill since December. Funeral service arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Hansen Funeral Home. The former Lucy Free was born February 7, 1889, in Clark County's Town of Weston. She married Horace Lawrence on March 9, 1910. They farmed in the Town of York until 1939, then moved to Spencer. They came to Marshfield 16 years ago. Survivors are Mr. Lawrence; two sons, Gilbert Lawrence, Town of York, and Byrl Lawrence, Marshfield; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Velda) Richardson, Madison, and Mrs. Lee (Vera) Buddenhagen, Neillsville; a brother, Herb Free, Neillsville; and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Heinz, Fresno, California; and Mrs. Ethel Darger, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and 12 grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

The Clark County Press: Funeral services wre conducted Friday for Mrs. Horace (Lucy)Lawrence, 72, of 1103 East Blodgett Street, Marshfield, from the York Center Methodist Church. Rev. Robert L. Jacobs of Marshfield officiated and burial was made in the York Center Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alden Lawrence, Raymond Lawrence, Byrl Buddenhagen, Nathan Vandeberg, Frank Richardson and Donald Free. Flowers were carried by Sandra and Lois Buddenhagen, and Patricia and Marie Richardson. "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung by Nyle E. Benedict, accompanied by Mrs. Donald Pinkerton. People from away here for services were: Horace Lawrence, Mr. & Mrs. Byrl Lawrence, Mr. & Mrs. Eldon Lawrence, Miss Marge Hymers, Roy Lawrence, Mrs. Elmer Hoesly, Mr. & Mrs. Walter Jakobi, Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Vandeberg and daughters Eileen, Sharon and Marie; and Mr. & Mrs. Nathan Vandeberg, all of Marshfield; Mr. & Mrs. Walter Richardson, Patricia and Marie Richardson; Frank, Craig and Ned Richardson, all of Madison. Mrs. Ethel Darger, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Mr. & Mrs. LaVern Spuhler and daughter, Loyal; Mr. & Mrs. Herman Karlen and Stillman Huntley, Monticello; Mrs. Elsie Rowe, Lansing, Michigan; Mr. & Mrs. Robert Gropp, Spencer; Mr. & Mrs. Bryl Rowe and Mr. & Mrs. Merle Bushnell, Owen; Mrs. Johanna Hoesly, Bloomer; Mr. & Mrs. Harold Vandeberg, Neenah; Francis Jacobson, Pittsville; Mrs. Walter Hudak, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. & Mrs. Eli Heck and Mrs. Keyin Heck, Greenwood.
