Jay G. Davis, 76, died of complications this morning at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Davis, route 4, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Church of York Center in Clark county. The Rev. Virgil Holmes, Neillsville, will officiate and burial will be made in York cemetery. The body will repose at the Hansen Funeral Home from Wednesday until Thursday noon, when it will be taken to the church. Mr. Davis was born Jan. 9, 1880, in Fond du Lac, educated there, and married there to Esther Huber, who survives him. They lived in Fond du Lac for a short time, then moved to York Center where he farmed. They then moved to Marshfield, where they lived until 1934, when he went to work for a railroad in Minneapolis, Minn. Following his retirement they made their home with their children. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Neillsville, and of the Railroad Brotherhood. Surviving are three sons, Marvin Davis, Marshfield, the Rev. Lowell Davis, Duquesne, Pa., the Rev. Robert Davis, Appleton; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Synder, Superior; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Belle Mortimer, Neillsville; and one brother, Merton Davis, Waupaca. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
