This community was shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. Anton Johnson, which occurred Tuesday morning at about 6 a.m., at St. Joseph's Hospital at Chippewa Falls, to which place she had gone on Wednesday of last week.

Mrs. Johnson submitted to an operation for childbirth, and was the mother of a son born to her Wednesday Aug. 9 (this must be a bad date since the paper was from Thursday Aug. 2), and from all indications the operation seemed successful. Late Saturday afternoon her condition became serious, and later developments proved fatal, death taking her on Tuesday. The baby son is now being cared for at the hospital and is reported to be doing nicely.

Mrs. Johnson was 39 years of age, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carter of this city (Owen, Clark County, Wis.). She was married twenty years ago, and to this union, two sons were born, Russell, age 17, and the infant child. Besides her husband and two sons, she leaves to mourn, her parents, and one sister, Mrs. H. C. Elliott of Minneapolis.

Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon from the Congregational Church, Rev. W. P. Powell, pastor, officiating, with interment at Riverside Cemetery.

The bereaved family has the heartfelt sympathy of a large number of friends at this time.
