Sutter, Myrtle B. (1871 - 17 JUN 1927)

A large circle of relatives and friends in Owen, Clark County, Wis., and elsewhere mourn the loss from the home and social circle of one of the best known and most deeply revered of its citizens, which came in the death of Mrs. Myrtle Belle (Merriman) Sutter, which occurred at St. Joseph's hospital, Chippewa Falls, on June 17, 1927, after an illness of man weeks.

Deceased was fifty-six years of age, having been born at Sumter, Sauk Co., Wis., in 1871. She was married to William Sutter, Nov. 17, 1902, and came to Owen from Eau Claire in 1901, having at the time the distinction of being the first woman to be given employment in the office of the John S. I am a volunteer for the Clark County Historical Internet Library. One of the things we do is go through the old Clark County newspapers on micro-film at the Wis. State Historical Society and transcribe obituaries and marriage notices for folks looking for their family roots. I am not related to the Sutter family, so I don't have anymore information than was available in the obit.

Good luck in your search! Stan Schwarze

Hi, I am a great-grandson of Myrtle B. Sutter. My father was Eugene W. Sutter. My genealogy work was put on hold for about six years, but I am getting started again. I would like to determine where the father of William Sutter (Myrtle B. Sutter's husband) was born and to visit his birthplace. It think it was in the Solothurn Canton in Switzerland, but I do not know the city.

My current project is to find the passenger list for the passage of my great grandfather Jacob J. Sutter from Solothurn Canton, Switzerland to America in 1851. He married Anna Hoffman in Elizabeth, NJ and lived in Elizabeth for 15 years before moving to Sheboygan, WI.
