Harry W. Ambelang

Harry Ambelang, age 92, of Neillsville, died Saturday, Aug. 2, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Harry William Ambelang was born on February 3, 1911, in Haverlok, Nebraska, the son of William and Ida (Walther) Ambelang. He came to Clark County, Town of Hewitt, as a small child and lived here all of his life. He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1930, and on September 4, 1954 he was united in marriage to Ruby Mohr. Harry farmed all of his life; in fact, he was the oldest living FFA alumni still farming. On top of operating a farm, Harry also did several odd jobs off of the farm. He loved football and he loved watching the Green Bay Packers.

Harry was a member of the United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby; five children, David (Yong) Ambelang of Grand Forks, N. Dakota, Glenn (Chris) Ambelang of Eau Claire, Jerry Ambelang of Neillsville, Karen (David) Northrup of Neillsville, and Harley (Kim Becker) Ambelang of Marshfield; and eight grandchildren, Jenny Ambelang-Severio of Colorado Springs, Colo., Laura Ambelang-Cordova of Grand Forks, N. Dakota, William Ambelang of Grand Forks, N. Dakota, Joseph, Amy, Michelle, and Scott Ambelang, all of Eau Claire, and Cody Northrup of Neillsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Harry were held Tuesday, August 5, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Roger Wentz officiated. Music was provided by Eileen Zank, organist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Casket bearers bearers were family members.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Harry's family with arrangements.
