Leonard Olson

Leonard Olson, 74, Greenwood, died on Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev Terri Blomberg officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leon Olson, Justin Hoivik, Jeremy Hoivik, Josh Hoivik, Jeremy Hackel, Kurt Robida, and Kerry Weiland.

Leonard Olson was born on May 17, 1929, in Chicago, to Leon and Marie (nee Baron) Olson. His family moved to Greenwood shortly after his birth and he grew up in the Greenwood area. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1948. After his education, he worked in the harvest fields in South Dakota. He married Mary H. Tigner on June 3, 1951, in Clark, South Dakota. They moved to Greenwood and resided and farmed there for 52 years. They provided transportation for the Clark County Aging office and the Social Services Department meals-on-wheels program. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a former director of Greenwood Cooperative Services. His interests included square dancing, rollerskating, playing cards, attending auctions, visiting casinos, and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Olson, Greenwood; three sons, Michael (Suzie) Olson, Greenwood, Terry (Sharon) Olson, Colby, and Gary (Diane) Olson, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Delmond (Karen) Olson, Thorp, Roger (Lupe) Olson, New Mexico, and Dale (Debbie) Olson, Abbotsford; one sister, Sharon (Jeff) Pillar, Marshfield; and his stepmother, Frances Olson, Marshfield.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and one son, Steve Olson, on April 21, 1973.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
