William A. Bauer

COLBY- William A. Bauer, 67, died Friday morning at 1:15, of a heart attack, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Bergner, Mishicot, where he had been visiting. The body is reposing in state at the Lulloff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John B. Pinion officiating. Internment will be made in the Loyal Cemetery.

The Christian Mothers will hold a rosary at 8 p.m. tonight (Saturday) and a Holy Name Society rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Bauer was born August 29, 1890 at Hewitt and was married to Caroline Schefchik on June 16, 1915 in Loyal. They farmed in the Colby area from 1934 until 1942 and then took up residence here, where Mr. Bauer became custodian at Colby High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Frank, Los Angeles, California; Albert, Rockford, Illinois; William J., Weyauwega; Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Howellman (Hollman), Milwaukee; Mrs. Woodrow (Julia) Bergner, Mischicot; Mrs. Ervin (Regina) Merkel, Cudahy; and Mrs. Gilbert (Marie) Jastrow, South Milwaukee, There are 24 grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, George Bauer, Wisconsin Rapids; Nick Bauer, Spencer; and Joseph Bauer, Cadott; and five sisters Mrs. Emma Roidt (Eva Roadt), Spencer; Mrs. Cecelia Chariton, Abbotsford; Mrs. Katherine Hebert, Chili; and Mrs. Angeline Duvall, Marshfield.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

William Bauer, 67, of Colby, Wisconsin, father of Mrs. Woodrow Bergner, wife of the Mishicot High School athletic coach, died unexpectedly of a heart attack here Friday morning at the Bergner home at Mishicot.

Mr. Bauer and his wife, the later the former Caroline Schefchik of near Stangelville, had come to Mishicot Thursday to attend the graduation exercises of their grandson James Bergner receive his diploma.

Funeral services will be at Colby Monday morning.

The casket was brought to the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby from the Specht Funeral Home, Mishicot. (Manitowoc)
