George G. Bauer

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Queen of heaven Catholic Church for George G. Bauer, 78, 501 4th Ave. N who died Saturday at 6:10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Beaver Dam. He had been a patient there for four weeks, death resulting from complications following surgery.

The Rev. Stanley Andrzejewski will officiate and burial is to be in Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Bauer, who retired in 1953, was foreman of the Wisconsin Rapids street maintenance department. He had been employed by the city for 30 years.

The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bauer, he was born in Hewitt, Wood County, May 31, 1886. He married Lena Wittlinger at Loyal on December 1, 1909 and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1959.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Paul, Seattle, Washington; seven daughters, Mrs. Clarence Keller and Mrs. William Ebsen, Wisconsin Rapids; Sister Berina OSF, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Beaver Dam; Mrs. Hayward Day, San Luis Obispo, California; Mrs. Jack Blagdon, Port Angeles, Washington; Mrs. Fred Budrow, Sacramento, California and Madeline Bauer, San Francisco.

Additional survivors are a brother, Joseph, Cadott; four sisters, Mrs. Lester Cook, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Cecelia Chariton, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Elliott Hebert, Chili, and Mrs. Albert Roadt, Spencer; 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bauer was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a past vice president of the Senior Citizens Club and served on the board of directors.

Friends May call at Ritchay Funeral Home from 7 o’clock this evening until time of services. The Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters will join in general prayers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
