Johnson, Gail (1920 - 19 Dec 1925)

Gail Johnson, the five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson, residing on the west side of the city (Owen, Clark County, Wis.), passed away Saturday morning at about three o'clock, the cause of death being membranous croup, after an illness of only a few days. The little body was laid to rest that afternoon in the Riverside Cemetery, there being no funeral services held because of the illness of all the children of the family.

The family of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson is under quarantine with diphtheria, and at present there are three others sick, but the disease is not said to be serious at this time. All seem to be gaining nicely now, but the first of the week, grave fears were held for the recovery of the younger child. Mrs. Johnson has also been ill, but is now able to care for her family. The passing of the young son was indeed a very sad affair, and the family has the sympathy of the entire community.

Another suspicious case is now under quarantine in that vicinity, and it is believed that diphtheria has a start in this family. Every precaution is being taken to keep the disease from spreading.
