George R. Eggett George R. Eggett, 83, of Greenwood, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield Wednesday noon, July 20 (1949) following an illness of about 10 days. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Methodist Church in Greenwood, the Rev. Lee Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Eggett was born on February 21, 1866 in Kelk, England. He moved to Canada with his parents in 1883 and lived there for a year before moving to a farm southeast of Greenwood in 1884. On Apr 25, 1895 he married Louis Sempf. They had one son, Fred who lives in Venice, California. Mrs. Eggett died on August 7, 1903.

On August 8, 1907, Mr. Eggett married Lettie Simmons. They lived on a farm near Loyal, where he worked as a logger in addition to farming. His second wife died on January 28, 1923.

Eggett moved to Marshfield in 1922 and lived there for seven years. He left Marshfield in 1929 and bought a farm near Humbird, where he spent the next seven years. In 1936, he returned to Greenwood and has lived there ever since.

Surviving Mr. Eggett, besides his son Fred, is a sister, Miss Minnie Eggett.
