Ronald W. Kitzhaber, 67, Greenwood, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, in the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, and at 10 a.m. prior to an 11 a.m. funeral service, Friday, Oct. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorials May be given to St. Mary's Catholic School or to the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.

Ronald Kitzhaber

Ronald W. Kitzhaber, 67, Greenwood, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, in the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar and the Rev. Michael Mertens officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers.

Ronald William Kitzhaber was born on Feb. 21, 1936, in Greenwood, to Lawrence and Mabel (nee McDowell) Kitzhaber. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School and Greenwood High School, graduating in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from April 5, 1956 until March 15, 1958. He then returned to Wisconsin and moved to Kenosha where he worked for American Motors. He married Bonnie Ver Hagen on April 11, 1959 in Antioch, Ill. In 1961, he bought a farm in Greenwood with his brother, Bernie, which they farmed in partnership until 1971. He continued to farm until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Mary's catholic Church, and its Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus Lady of Fatima Council #4963. His interests included spending time with his grandchildren, farming, traveling, fishing, deer hunting, playing cards, and throwing horseshoes.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, Greenwood; five children, Nicholas (Jeannine) Kitzhaber, Coon Rapids, Minn., Randy (Tracy) Kitzhaber, Greenwood, Mike (Cheryl) Kitzhaber, Greenwood, Ken (Jodi) Kitzhaber, Greenwood, and Lisa (Scott) Olson, Withee; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicole, Katelyn, Kailey, Konner, Kinsey, Heather, Lindsey, Tyler, Brandon, Kasi, and Ryan; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Justin, and Tyson; seven siblings, Catherine (Richard) Deiler, Marshfield, Raymond (Mary Ellen) Kitzhaber, Mosinee, Dolores (Calvin) Cornwell, St. Paul Park, Minn., Bernard (Pat) Kitzhaber, Greenwood, Lorraine (Michael) Klapatauskas, Marshfield, Peggy (Wally) Brey, Neillsville, and JoAnn (Jim) Suda, Gurnee, Ill.; nieces, nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Lawrence; two sisters, Geneva and Loretta; and one brother, Elmer.

Memorials May be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church, or the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
