King, Marion B. (Marriage - 18 Sep 1917)

Announcement of the marriage of Miss Marion Bernice King and G. H. Salter, both of Pittsville, Wis., was received here last week. The marriage took place at Hillsboro, Wis., Sept. 18, 1917, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Thomas Hoffmann, a former pastor of the Congregational Church at Pittsville.

The couple is spending their honeymoon at Marshall, where the mother of the bride is living and will be at home to their friends in Pittsville after Nov. 1st.

The groom is a native of Colby, Wis., having been born and raised here, and is one of the finest young men that ever left here to cast his fortunes in another town. The bride is one of Pittsville's most popular and respected young ladies and "Hal's" host of friends here will wish them much happiness and success.

The Pittsville Record of Sept. 19th contains a lengthy write-up of the marriage, and to show the high esteem in which the couple is held we will publish part of it:

"The groom is manager and part owner in the mercantile business of R. B. Salter & Son, doing a general merchandising business in Pittsville. He came here some nine years ago in company with his father and was placed at the head of this concern, which has grown to goodly proportions under his able and painstaking management.

"Hal", as he is popularly known, is a young man of sterling qualities and upright manhood. While he has been demonstrating that he can run a large mercantile business successfully he has at the same time impressed upon the people of the Pittsville District his worth as a citizen and his loyalty to his hometown.

The bride is the second daughter of Mrs. F. C. King. She has resided in Pittsville for about eleven years, coming here with her parents from Marshall. She is a graduate of the Pittsville High School, after which she was employed in various occupations in this city. The past two years she has been a valued assistant at Pittsville State Bank, where her frank manners and pleasantness won her many friends who will join the Record in congratulations to herself and her husband with wishes for a life long and happy."
