McGonigal, Annie (1851 - 4 Augl 1919)

Early Monday morning, Aug. 4, 1919, the Angel of Death hovered over the home of James McGonigal and quietly summoned the soul of his beloved wife, Annie, to leave and seek rest from its frail and suffering body. Deceased had borne with Christian fortitude for many months the slow and persistent suffering of chronic disease.

Besides her husband and her son, Frank, she leaves a number of sorrowing relatives and a host of friends, a brother, Michael Irwin, 2 sisters, Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Leacy of Lanark, Ontario, Canada, with their families survive; also the family of another deceased brother, Robert Irwin of Belfair, Wash.

James McGonigal and Annie Irwin were married in Bay City, Mich., in 1882, where they lived for a number of years, subsequently moving to Tonowanda, N.Y., and from there to Minocqua, Wis. After several years residence at Minocqua, they came to Loyal, Clark County, Wis., where they have resided for the past fifteen years. Three children were born to them, the two baby girls not surviving infancy.

The esteem in which deceased was held was attested by the large number of friends who paid final and silent respect to her memory at the obsequies.

Among those from out of town at the funeral were, Dr. and Mrs. Bryan of Chicago, Mrs. M. Doyle of Chippewa Falls, Miss Anna McGonigal of Newboro, Ontario, Canada, and Mr. Wheeler of Superior.

The funeral ceremonies were conducted at St. Balthasar's Catholic Church, Loyal, Wednesday Aug. 6th. Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Joseph Stenz, assisted by Rev. Father Achterlich of Greenwood and Rev. Father Miller of Bakerville.

The remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery at Loyal.

May her soul rest in peace.
