Bowman, Earl D. (22 Mar 1845 - 6 OCT 1915)

Earl D. Bowman was born on March 22, 1845, at Augusta, Madison Co., N.Y., and at the time of his death, Oct. 6, 1915, had reached the age of seventy years, six months and fourteen days. He came to Dodge Co., Wis. in 1858 and enlisted in Co. K, 89 Reg. Of Wis. volunteers on May 12, 1864, and was honorably discharged Sept. 27, 1864. Aug. 16, 1867, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Lawrence, to which union eight children were born, of which two died in their infancy.

Deceased was a resident of Clark County, Wis. for the past thirty-eight years and was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of a pioneer. He was well liked by all who knew him and has filled the various relations of life, as son, husband, father, brother, friend, and filled them well.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mary Bowman, four sons, W. A. Bowman, Harry A. Bowman, Charley E. Bowman and Lawrence E. Bowman, and one daughter, Estella M. Stevens. One daughter, Mrs. Edith Holmes, passed away April 24, 1913. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. C. G. Snow of Lowell, Dodge Co., Wis., and one brother, R. E. Bowman of Brookside, Oconto Co., Wis., besides other relatives and many friends.

The funeral was held last Sunday afternoon, Oct. 10, 1915, under the auspices of the Masonic Order of which he has been a member for the past four eyars. Services were held at the M. W. A. Hall, Rev. Powell officiating with interment in the Loyal Cemetery. He was also a member of of the Modern Woodman.

Those present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Snow of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. Orley Snow of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. James Miner and Mrs. Fred Williams of Mable, Minn., Mr. W. R. Bowman of Monroe, Wash., and Mr. Charles Bowman of Peshtigo, Wis.
