Frederick, Leona (1901? - 13 Jul 1914)

Leona Frederick, the thirteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frederick, who reside one and one-quarter miles south of Spencer, Wis., was instantly killed b lightning Monday afternoon at about 5:30 o'clock.

She was on her way to town and was carrying an umbrella which it was though drew the lightning. The hairpins in her hair and all the metal on the umbrella was melted. Her clothes were torn to pieces, one shoe being taken from her foot.

The young girl is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frederick, two sisters, Messes Martha and Elsie Frederick, who reside at Wausau, a baby brother and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock from the Lutheran Church. Many of the relatives and friends of the sorrowing family were present. Rev. Karl E. Schmidt officiated.
