Holmes, Edith (11 MAR 1872 - 23 Apr 1913)

Mrs. J. E. Holmes died suddenly on the evening of Wednesday, April 23, 1913, of heart failure at the age of forty-one years.

She was born in Lowell, Wis., on March 11, 1872, and came to Clark County, Wis. with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Bowman, when but four years of age and settled on their farm in the town of Loyal. She was married to J. E. Holmes on Jan. 1, 1893.

Life will not be quite the same to those who knew her, while those who were nearest to her will long for her with unutterable longings, long for a mother's counsel and advice, and a wife's gentle and loving sympathy. Her cheerful, helpful life; her devotion as wife and daughter; her kindness to everybody, will long linger as a memory in the home which her presence brightened and which death has now darkened.

She is survived by a husband and daughter, Mary, Nineteen years old, her father, mother, four brothers, Will A. of Monroe, Wash., Harry A. of York, Charles E. of Grover, Lawrence E. of Loyal and a sister, Mrs. Ruel Stevens of Sherman.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Sunday morning at eleven o'clock and the remains buried in the M. E. Cemetery in this village.
