Baker, Elizabeth A. (4 Apr 1835 - 9 Dec 1911)

The following was taken from the Marshfield Times. Mrs. Baker up to a few years ago resided in the town of Loyal, Clark County, Wis.:

"Our community was somewhat startled last Friday morning by the death of Mrs. Elizabeth A. Baker, wife of Josiah Baker, who resides near Bethel, Wis., occurring on the previous evening, Dec. 9, 1911, shortly after retiring she made a quick move with her left arm, and in asking what was the matter she replied cramps. A light was quickly produced but she had already passed away without a struggle or groan.

Mrs. Baker was 76 years, 8 months and 5 days of age and to all appearance of good health. Mrs. Baker was the mother of twelve children, four of who were daughters. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

The funeral was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Baker at two o'clock Sunday afternoon. A short address was given by Prof. C. L. Sone, after which the deceased was laid to rest in the Bethel Cemetery.

The pallbearers were all sons of Mrs. Baker. Mr. Baker is so prostrated by the loss of this lovely jewel, who has been his companion for 55 years, that his life is in danger. He was not able to attend the interment."

Elizabeth and Josiah Baker were my great, great grandparents. We are looking for more info on their parents and ancestry. All available records show some vital information as unknown. We do know their birthdates (1835 and 1833) and state, but nothing further back than that. Thank-you!!

Treasa,

We just returned from a week of vacation and have lots of new updates for the Loyal Cemeteries. It will take a few days for me to get the new information posted, but hopefully, some of it will be helpful to you. Janet
