Rogers, James (24 SEP 1836 - 2 Sep 1911)

Died, at his home in this village on Saturday morning at seven o'clock, James Rogers, of pneumonia at the age of seventy-five years.

The deceased was born on Sept. 24, 1836, in Canada. He came to this country in the fall of 1854 with his parents and settled on a farm in Dodge County, Wis., and was married to Miss Margaret Farley in July 1869. They lived there three years and in the fall of 1872 came to Clark County, Wis. and homesteaded on the farm two miles west of here. He sold the farm about seven years ago and purchased a house in this village, where he resided up to the time of his death.

He was a man who united sound sense with strong convictions and had a candid, outspoken temper. He was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father; to his sisters a tender brother, to his friends the soul of fellowship, but the greatest of all was he was a man.

He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, daughter Anna and one brother, Thomas Hickey of Woodland and four sisters, Mrs. Eugene Collins of Watertown and Mrs. Ed Turney, Miss Rose and Bridget Hickey of New Richmond.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church on Tuesday morning at nine o'clock and the remains buried in the Catholic Cemetery.
