Bauer, Joseph (8 JAN 1835 - 13 Jul 1910)

Joseph Bauer, an old settler of the town of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., died on Tuesday, July 13, 1910.

The deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany on Jan. 8, 1835 and came to this country with his parents when but nine years of age and settled at Mayville, Wis., and later removed to Woodville, about fifty miles from there. In the fall of 1860 he was married to Miss Sophia Smith of Holland and settled on a farm north of Woodville, and a few years later sold his farm and purchased another Southwest of Woodville. Twenty-eight years ago last fall he came to this county (Clark) and settled on a farm near Spokeville, where he died.

He was a man of excellent habits, fine moral character and sturdy constitution. When he died, full of years, and ready to be gathered to his fathers, the grief that was felt over the close of his long career was widespread and sincere.

The mourners are his wife, six sons, Joseph of Hanzville, Alabama, William of Glendive, Mont., Frank of the town of Loyal, John of this village and Nick and Tony of Wibaux, Mont.; and three daughters, Mrs. E. Schuld of Oregon City, Oregon, Mrs. Frank Klimmer of the town of Loyal, and Mrs. Walter Young of this village.

The funeral services were held on last week Monday at the Catholic Church and the remains buried in the Catholic Cemetery.
