The school board has let the job for putting in the furnaces at the school house, to Fuller & Warner, of Chicago, at $870. The contracting parties are to furnish three No. 4 Columbia furnaces, the heating qualities of which are warranted to be sufficient to heat the building at all times. The work will be commenced soon.

Tom Garvin, living west of this village, has a gobbler that evidently is not in his right mind. For several months past he has developed a wonderful propensity for setting, during which time he has succeeded in hatching one brood of chickens, having driven a setting hen from the nest and taken possession of the eggs. The chickens hatched to him were stolen as soon as they left the next by the hen he had greatly wronged, and now the old fellow camps on every egg he can get sight of, and Tom declares he has already spoiled more eggs than six turkeys are worth in his persistent effort to prove himself an incubator.
