Mr. Tip Whitney, of Loyal, has his hand caught in the cylinder of a threshing machine which he was feeding at Wm. Irvine’s place, in Beaver, last Tuesday. The two middle fingers of the right hand were so badly crushed as to make the amputation of the first two joints of both necessary. A root in the straw had stopped the cylinder, and as he attempted to pull it out the machine started again with the above result.

John S. Dore took, at the State Fair last week, the second premiums on Jersey bulls and spring wheat, two of the most important entries at the fair. These were the only entries from this county, from which the indications are that had the county been well represented by entries at the fair it would have been well rewarded by a conspicuous number of premiums. We cannot understand why more entries were not made, as there is no expense for transportation. This should be remembered another season if it was not generally understood before.
