Leonard Barth

Leonard C. Barth, 76, 319 Lincoln, St. Stanley, WI died December 6, 2001 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab Center, Thorp.

Leonard was born on March 24, 1925 in the Town of Reesburg, to Conrad and Gertrude (Maier) Barth. He grew up there and attended Goff and Mead School and Thorp High School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II for over five years in England, France, Germany, and Belgium. In Belgium, he met Angelina Von Domelen whom he married. After returning from the war he had drilled walls for a short time and then worked at the Falls Dairy for 11 ½ years, the UBC for eight years. He was a police officer in Stanley for eight years, then moved to Boyd and was Chief of Police for 14 years from 1973 to 1987 until retirement. In 1992 he moved back to Stanley and has resided there since.

He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Brooks of Stanley, WI; three sons: Conrad (Sandy) of Elk Mound, WI, Leonard Jr. (Marcy) and Donald (Trudy). Both of Stanley; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; four brothers: Conrad (Lorrie) of Chicago, IL, Fred (Nancy) of Greenwood, Robert (Esther) of Stanley, Edwin (Kathy) of Thorp and three sisters: Ione (Ralph) Much of Shiocton, WI, Donna Hein of Madison, WI and Trudy (Roger) Holfelder of Mount Horeb, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Angelina in 1988.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanley, WI with Pastor William Stewart officiating. Burial was in Sylvan Cemetery, Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp. Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley on Monday and one hour prior to services at the church. Pallbearers and Military Graveside Rites were conducted by the Walter Nelson Post 326 of the American Legion. They also conducted an evening vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
