Lader, August C. (8 NOV 1839 - 21 Jan 1907)

Mr. August Carl Lader died at his home in this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) on Monday, Jan. 21, 1907 at the age of 67 years. He had been of ill health for some time and it was not great surprise to his friends to hear of his death.

He was born on Nov. 8, 1839 in Rittgarten, Province of Brandenburg, and married to Charlotte Stober on Oct. 16, 1864. They came to this country in 1868 and settled at Milwaukee, living there for four years, and then came to Clark County, Wis. and took up a homestead on a farm about four miles northeast of this village in the town of Beaver. They remained there until they moved to this village about seven years ago. On May 12, 1897, he lost his first wife and was married again to Babetta Knoepfel on March 5, 1898.

He leaves to mourn his loss the widow, a sister, Mrs. Sophia Clouse of this village, and one brother in Germany, and numerous friends.

The funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church on Thursday morning at ten o'clock and the remains taken to the Lutheran Cemetery and laid to rest.

Thus passed away another old settler who was highly respected by all those with whom he came in contact.
