The mortal remains of Fred Harper arrived here from France on Friday last and was taken to the home of his parents in the town of Worden, Clark County, Wis. A deputation of American Legion comrades met the train and served as escort. The young man was one of the first volunteers for service in May 1917 from here, and joined Co. B. at Stanley, being afterward assigned to the 125th Infantry, 32nd Division and served with honor until killed in action during the battle at Chateau Thierry on Sept. 4, 1918. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harper and was born May 7, 1898 in Richland Co., Wis., and came here with his parents some twelve years ago. To him the struggle and burden of earth are ended. All honors to him and many other who laid down their lives for their country.

The funeral services were conducted on Sunday forenoon from the Lutheran Church in the town of Reseberg, Rev. A. C. Stapel officiating, the services being largely attended. Interment followed in the Reseberg Cemetery where final exercises were conducted by members of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 of this village.
