Ziehr, Gertrude (1842 - 24 Mar 1920)

Mrs. George Ziehr, aged 78 years, died at the home of her son Joseph Ziehr in Cadott, Wis. on Wednesday morning, March 24, 1920, from old age. She had been confined to her bed for two and one-half years, but her condition was not considered serious until a few weeks before her death.

Deceased was born in Germany in the year 1842 and at the age of 12 years came to Wisconsin and located at St. Cloud, Fond du Lac County. In the year 1862 Gertrude Shumacher was united in marriage to George Ziehr and in 1882 they moved to Thorp, Clark County, Wis., where they resided for 25 years. In 1907 they moved to Cadott, where they since resided with their son Joseph. Her husband George Ziehr died in 1917.

The remains were brought to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Brunner AT Thorp on Friday last and the funeral took place on Saturday morning from St. Bernard's Church, Father Neises officiating. She is survived by three daughters and four son, namely: Mrs. Clara David of Thorp, Mrs. Kate Klenzing of Solon Springs, Mrs. Anna Brunner of Thorp, August Ziehr of Mohall, N. D., John of Boyd, Joseph of Cadott and Reinhard of Wild Rose, also 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children.
