NEILLSVILLE - Margaret Eva Tichy, 90, of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services for Margaret will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at the Gesche Funeral Home. Pastor Tom LaChapelle, a longtime close friend of the family who now serves the United Methodist Church in Barron, will officiate. Honorary casket bearers are Jeff Romsos, Tim Bieneck, Jerry Rozek and Mike Bohlman. Serving as casket bearers will be Tom Bieneck, David Holmes III, Dale Romsos, Kurt Romsos, Dean Thompson and Vince Tichy.

Margaret was born Nov. 22, 1912, in Sherbrook N. Dak., to George F. and Nellie Newton. The family moved to Humbird when she was seven years old. She attended Houghtenburg Grade School and graduated from Humbird High School in 1931.

On Jun 26, 1934, she was married to Stephen Tichy of Alma Center. They farmed there until moving to a larger dairy farm in the Christie Area. Margaret was an active member of the Christie United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Ladies Aid, the Clark County Homemakers Club and was a leader in the Clark County 4-H program.

In 1963 Steve and Margaret moved to Illinois where Margaret worked as a cook and housekeeper in the Forest Lake area. The couple retired in November 1975 and returned to Neillsville. They were active in the Senior Citizen organization and the Kiwanis Club. Steve and Margaret were honored one year as Senior King and Queen for the Neillsville Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Rita) Tichy of Marshfield, Carlotta (Eugene) Romsos of Sarona and Elvina (Richard) Thompson of Rochester, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother, George (Jean) Newton of Holyoak, Colo.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Stephen in 1990; her parents; and three brothers, Willard, Kenneth and Elsworth.
