Potter, Dell L. (13 Augl 1884 - 13 Feb 1920)

On Friday morning, Feb. 13, 1920, D. L. Potter, our popular and enterprising young druggist succumbed to the ravages of pneumonia.

Mr. Potter had an attack of the flue and had been sick only a short time, when this malady developed into pneumonia, which snuffed out the life of one of our most promising and progressive businessmen.

Everyone in the village and community was greatly shocked to hear of his death.

Dell L. Potter was born in Colby, Wis., Aug. 13, 1884, and died in Muscoda, Wis., Feb. 13, 1920, aged thirty-five years and six months.

He received a high school education at Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., at which place he served as apprenticeship in a drug store and was a member of the state militia.

Subsequently he owned and operated a drug store at Marshfield, Wis., which he sold and purchased the drug business of O. W. Fessel in 1913, which business he conducted until the time of his death.

He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Swingle, of Muscoda, on Jan. 15, 1914. To this union two children were born, Mary Alice and Frank Legarre.

Mr. Potter held many offices of public trust and service and at the time of his death was Trustee on the Village Board, Clerk of the School District, President of the Board of Health, Secretary of the Rexall Drug Association of Wisconsin, Director of the Muscoda State Bank and Senior Deacon in the Masonic Lodge at Boscobel.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves a mother and brother, residents of Neillsville, Wis., and a large number of friends and patrons, whom he has faithfully served, to mourn his departure.

Those in attendance from away, during his last illness and also attending the funeral were: his mother, Mrs. A. H. Holvorson, his brother, Guy Potter, and his cousin, E. L. White of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. James A Greig of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Meyer of Prairie du Sac. (The Muscoda Progressive)
