Barlow, Emily (15 MAY 1837 - 3 Dec 1919)

Mrs. Emily Barlow was born Emily Depew, May 15, 1837 near Trumansburg, Tompkins Co., N.Y. She lived there until she was united in marriage with Emery Barlow Oct. 6, 1870.

In 1871 she and her husband came to Northport, Wis., remaining there about a year, then returning to Woodhull, N.Y.

In 1880 they came to Merrillan, Wis. Two years later they moved on a piece of wild land in Levis Township, Clark County, Wis., where they remained for many years. When 19 years of age she united with the Baptist Church. She held Sunday school in her home years before a church was built in the community where she lived. After selling their farm they went back to New York. Jan. 6, 1919 she returned to Neillsville.

She died at Eau Claire Dec. 3, 1919 at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 19 days. Funeral services were held at Merrillan Dec. 7th at the Methodist Church. She was laid to rest in the Merrillan Cemetery. She leaves to mourn her death two brothers and one sister, Steven and Irving Depew of Coopers Plans, N.Y. and Mrs. Olive Horton of Neillsville, Wis.

Mrs. Olive Horton wishes to thank the Levis Sewing Circle for lovely floral offering received for the funeral of her sister Mrs. Emily Barlow.
