Hemp, Alvira (Marriage - 11 Oct 1917)

At noon Thursday, Oct. 11, 1917, Mr. Charles Neff and Miss Alvira Hemp were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Hemp, in this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), Rev. D. Grether officiating. The rooms of the home were tastefully decorated with ferns, Ophelia roses and asters. The bride wore a pretty white dress and carried a bouquet of roses. The wedding march was played by Mrs. M. LaStofka. After the ceremony a three course dinner was served. The entire wedding was of the quiet order, only near relatives and friends being present. The groom is a young man of splendid qualities and fine appearance. He is the son of Dorr W. Neff, of the town of Levis, was born there and grew up on his father's farm. He graduated from Neillsville High school in the Class of 1912, and has had practically entire charge of his father's farm since finishing school. He has brought to his work not only the strength of his fine young manhood, but also the intelligence and alertness of a well trained mind, and an honest upright character. The bride grew to womanhood here, competed the high school course in the Class of 1911 and taught school successfully several terms. She has also filled business positions in this city with much efficiency, and has in this way and also in her school worked, obtained a large circle of friends all about this community. She has a winning personality, fine good sense and rare mental qualities that fit her well for her womanly duties in the home. The young couple went immediately to the Neff home, where they will live for the present.
