Hemphill, Frances (Marriage - 14 Sep 1916)

Mr. M. C. Rodolf, of Tulsa, Okla., and Miss Frances Hemphill, of this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), were married at the home of the bride's parents at noon, Thursday, Sept. 14, 1916, Rev. Mr. Sindell, of Eau Claire performing the ceremony. Mr. Gordon McKay of Madison, was best man and Miss Charlotte Lane of Alma, Wis., was maid of honor. The bride's dress was white satin, lace and seed pearls, with veil, and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. The maid wore a beautiful colonial dress of pink georgette crepe and taffeta and she carried a colonial bouquet. The rooms and tables were artistically and beautifully decorated by the La Crosse Floral Co. It was practically a home wedding, only relatives and a few close friends of the bride and bridegroom being present. The out of town guests were Dr. and Mrs. Rodolf of Madison, Wis., Mrs. Rankin of Ft. Atkinson and Mrs. Playter of Eau Claire.

The groom is a young attorney; he graduated in 1915 from the University of Wisconsin and soon after located at Tulsa, Okla., and entered in partnership with two other lawyers. The firm has a good practice. He is a man of fine appearance and highly spoken of by his acquaintances. The bride was born and brought up here, being the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Hemphill. She went through the city schools, graduated from the high school in the class of 1910; graduated from the National Park Seminary near Washington, D.C., in 1912 and from the State University in Feb. 1915, remaining to do post graduate work till the close of the University year. With her excellent scholarship she has developed a beautiful character, a refined common sense and all the attributes of a real lady. She takes with her from Neillsville, not only the good will that comes from passing her girlhood days here, but the accumulated love and interest growing out of the fact that she represents two generations who have been a helpful part of this community. Wile we may be pardoned the regret that the benefit of the culture and talent of this young couple would go elsewhere than to Neillsville, yet we join with many others in the feeling that they will fill a worthy place in their new home and succeed in all that is best.
