Potter, Frank (21 DEC 1855 - 6 Feb 1917)

The demise of Frank Potter, which occurred Tuesday morning, Feb. 6, 1917, came as a great shock to the entire community, as many friends were not aware of his illness. He returned to his home on West Fourth St. Sunday morning from Sheboygan, where he had been to attend the funeral of a relative, and feeling very tired from his journey, he lay down to take a little needed rest, but in a short time was taken with a chill and soon complained of pain in his chest and back. Everything was done to relieve the sufferer and medical assistance was called, but pneumonia with other complications set in and caused his death.

Mr. Potter was born in Town of Trenton, Washington Co., Wis., Dec. 21, 1855. In 1885 he was united in marriage to Belle Shafer of Sheboygan Co., and a short time after they came to Clark County, Wis., purchasing a farm in the town of York, which he operated for the past thirty years. He was a great lover of fine horses and took a great interest in stock raising and all work pertaining to the farm. Thinking to take life a little easier, he rented the farm to his two sons, and purchased a home in Neillsville, where he and his wife moved to in November.

Mr. Potter was a man who held the very highest esteem of everybody in the community, always genial and pleasant, and ever ready to do a kind act. He was an excellent husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Wayne and Harland, also three brothers and four sisters: Delbert of White S.D.; Barney and Edward, Mrs. J. Fullerton and Mrs. Will Board, of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. George Schacht, of West Bend, and Mrs. Norman Shafer of Neillsville.
