Herman, Marion E. (25 Jan 1918 - 16 Jan 2003)

THORP - Marion E. Herman, 84, Thorp, Clark County, Wis. died Jan. 16, 2003, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Thorp, the son of Andrew and Mary (nee Rosenthal) Herman. Marion enlisted in the National Guard and later served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he worked at the Pentagon.

On April 8, 1946, he united in marriage to Selena Henry at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anapolis, Md. He worked for the Thorp Telephone Company for more than 30 years before his retirement in the early 1980s.

He is survived by two sons, Robert "Bobby" (Sandy) Herman of Cedarburg and Larry (Pam) Herman of Spencer; a daughter, Janet (Mike) Stellmach of Pittsville; a stepson, Tom Tortora of Fair Oaks, Calif; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
