Roth, Roland (10 JUN 1910 - 31 Dec 2002)

COLBY, WIS. - Roland "Butch" Roth, 92, Colby, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at the Colonial Center in Colby where he was recuperating from recent hip surgery.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

Roland was born June 10, 1910, in Colby, Wis. to Bill and Linda (Wendell) Roth. He attended Colby schools, and married Leona Lube on March 26, 1933. After living in Chicago for several years, they returned to the Abbotsford/Colby area. Roland was a well-known meat cutter for Afkend's/Kramer's IGA until retirement. Following retirement, Roland delivered prescriptions for the Abby Pharmacy.

He was a long time member of both the First United Church of Christ in Colby and the Abbotsford Volunteer Fire/Ambulance Department. Butch enjoyed fishing with family and friends at his Sackett's Lake cottage. He was proud to be the first resident of Angelus Retirement Community and enjoyed living there.

Butch is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Drake) Fleege of Hartford and Nancy (Buck) Brunkhorst of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Norma Schmidt of Maryville, Tenn.; five grandchildren Brock Brunkhorst, Brett (Brunkhorst) Carlino, Brynn (Brunkhorst) O'Connell, Ross Fleege and Erin Fleege; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death by his parents; wife, Leona Roth on Feb. 2, 1994; a brother, Floyd Roth; and a sister, Irene Danielson.
