Brown, George (21 AUG 1848 - 7 Augl 1915)

Geo. J. Brown was born in Sheboygan, Wis., on Aug. 21, 1848. In the year 1852 he moved with his parents to Juneau, Wis. and was married to Julia A. Thompson, March 10, 1868. From there they moved and made their home in Blue Earth, Minn., up to the year 1884, when they moved and settled in Clark County, Wis., on a farm south of Neillsville, where chopping away of trees had to be done before a house could be erected. Unto them were born a family of ten children, two daughters and eight sons, six of which survive him, one daughter, Ella C., and five sons, Ralph J., Norman, Joseph, Bert and Hubert Brown.

All make their home with their mother, with the exception of Bert, who resides in Greenwood, Wis. and Ralph in the west. Deceased also leaves one brother, T.J. Brown of Mauston, and two sisters, Mrs. Rosalia Conlin of Neillsville, and Mrs. L. Rockwell of Black Duck, Minn.

Mr. Brown had been a sufferer of diseases for several years and had fought bravely to the end, which came Saturday afternoon at one o’clock, Aug. 7, 1915.

Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. Church by Rev. A.H. Anderson, assisted by Rev. J.S. Willmarth, Monday, Aug. 9th. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Those from away who were here to attend the funeral were: Mrs. Rosalia Conlin and Mrs. Wm. Ruege of Neillsville; Mrs. F. Price of Cadott; Mrs. C.A. Brown and two daughters, Francis and Hazel of Withee.
