Oldham, Richard (19 Apr 1898 - 26 JUN 1916)

Mrs. R.W. King received a telegram Monday telling of the death of her grandson Richard Oldham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Oldham at their home near Cottonwood, Idaho. He was a boy about 18 years of age and was born when his parents lived here (Neillsville, Clark County). Their Neillsville friends sympathize keenly with the bereaved family.

(Follow on Obit in 7/6/1916 R & P) Richard Wight Oldham, of Cottonwood, Idaho, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Oldham, died Monday morning at six o’clock, of epilepsy, at the home five miles east of Cottonwood.

He was born at Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis., April 19, 1898, being at the time of his death, 18 years, 2 months and 16 days of age.

At the age of five years he moved with the family to the coast, where at Centralia, Wash., he graduated from the 8th grade.

Two years and a half ago the family came to Camas Prairie, and Richard attended the High School at Cottonwood for a year and a half.

He was a fine specimen of well developed young manhood, ready to enter into life’s work, well equipped with health, ambition and good trade, having studied and practiced the carpenter and furniture making trade from a small boy.

He was stricken a month ago by the dread disease that took him from the grief stricken parents and three sisters. Namely Lois M. attending normal at Moscow and Rozilla F. and Hildagarde E. at home.

The funeral was held on Wednesday June 28, from the home, Rev. Grunewald preached the funeral sermon, and burial was in Denver Cemetery.
