Rogers, Emily (25 NOV 1841 - 2 May 1915)

Mrs. Emily Rogers died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Aldo Raymond, at Nekoosa, Wis.

Mrs. Rogers had suffered much during the past winter from a complication of chronic diseases which resulted in paralysis of the nervous system.

Emily Adams was born in Rutland Co., Vermont, Nov. 25, 1841. When four years of age she came with her parents to Fond du Lac Co., Wis. and settled in the wilderness. There she grew to womanhood and taught school. On Dec. 31, 1861 she was married to David Rogers, who then enlisted as a volunteer in the Civil War, where he served until mustered out of service.

In 1878 they moved to Clark Co., and were among the pioneers of North York. To this union were born seven children. They are Emma Hill of Texarkana, Ark.; Elsie Raymond of Nekoosa; Frank of Lynden, Wash.; Norman of Beach, N.D.; and Willie of this place; Noel and Wayman, who died some years ago.

Mr. Rogers died in 1901. Mrs. Rogers lived in the old home until a few years ago, when she went to Menomonie, Wis. to care for her mother, who died one year ago. Since that time she has made her home in Nekoosa.

Mrs. Rogers was a firm believer in Christ and her life was spent in serving Him. She was a kind and loving mother and highly respected by all who knew her. She did willingly whatever her hands found to do and died happy in her faith. Her last days were spent in giving Christian encouragement to her friends and talking of the glories of the world she was about to enter. How well for her can be said, "Oh, Grove where is thy victory, oh, Death where is thy sting". Besides her children she leaves to mourn her loss, eight brothers and sisters, David Adams of Oakland, Cal.; Eugene and Ernest of Gettysburg, N.D.; Noble of Elkhorn; Mrs. Ransler of Superior; Mrs. George and De Lysle of Menomonie; and Samuel of this place.

The funeral was held in the F.M. Church in York on Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in the cemetery there. Rev. Wolfe of Barron, a former pastor here, performed the last sad rites. Those from away who attended the funeral were De Lysle Adams, Mrs. Hill, Norman Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and daughters Myrtle and Carrie. To the bereaved relatives and friends we extend our sympathy.
