Barton, Azilda (9 FEB 1854 - 24 Apr 1915)

Mrs. Joseph Barton died April 24, 1915, at the Marshfield Hospital after an operation for cirrhosis of the liver.

She was born Azilda Le Brun, Feb. 9, 1854, at St. Augustin, Province of Quebec. She was married to Joseph Barton at Hull City, Canada in 1873. They came to Wisconsin 38 years ago and settled in Neillsville, Clark County. After two years they moved out to the town of Grant and lived there 16 years, then moved to Christie and lived 16 years; three years ago they built a fine home in Neillsville and moved to the city. Mrs. Barton was a woman of the highest character. A helpful wife and kin and faithful mother, a good neighbor, a true and genuine Christian. She leaves to her children and all who know her the heritage of a life well spent. Besides her husband she leaves five children to mourn her death: their sons Albert, Arthur and Louis are all married and living on farms near Christie; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Welsh and Mrs. Will Schiller are of Neillsville; one boy died in infancy. She leaves also 12 grandchildren; also four sisters: Mrs. J.M. Rivard of Eau Claire; Mrs. Julius Thibert of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. M. Carriere and Mrs. Frank Malette, both of Ottawa, Canada; and one brother, Averest Le Brun in Washington.

The funeral was held Tuesday at the Catholic Church, Rev. Weber officiating.
