In 1914, they moved to the town of Fremont, where they operated a farm until retiring in 1948. For the past 19 years they had resided in Chili.

The couple had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1961 and their 60th anniversary in 1971.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Clarence Gaulke, Milwaukee, Edwin Gaulke, Wayland, Mich., and Warren Gaulke, Green Bay; three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Lorraine) Haas and Mrs. Richard (Esther) Uschold, both of Milwaukee, and Mrs. George (Irene) Schecklman, Chili; 24 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Walter Roehl, on Nov. 15, 1972, six brothers, four sisters, and four half-sisters.
